I worked as a bricklayer with a team for several years, before forming my own team, employing several people. I then focused on Perth residential work, building houses, units as well as multi storey dwellings. Over the years, I have branched into commercial work also. A few years ago, I decided to obtain my builders licence. This involved several years of study at TAFE, of which all aspects of construction are looked at, as well as other stringent criteria as required by the Building Commission, all of which I have met. As part of my builder’s studies, I acquired the skills to draw plans. Consequently I’ve drawn many sets of plans for clients, ready for council approval. I’ve dealt with every council across Perth and I’m aware of each councils particular criteria with regards to what is required to get your plans through council. Since I do have my builders licence, I undoubtedly have more knowledge of the construction process than the average bricklayer. This knowledge has been invaluable when bricklaying jobs require extra services such as the inclusion of concrete footings, and when excavating for footings, identifying the positions and managing of utilities such as water, power and electrical services which can sometimes be an obstacle and require careful consideration. Being a builder, I also have a number of quality trade contacts should you be looking for them. These include plasterers, painters and electricians. They are people that I use on my own building projects, who I can recommend to do a quality job.
