CLASSIC SPEED 1966 GT350H Tribute – # 200CS Fully re-manufactured in the Philippines in 2011 and first registered in QLD by the Importer/ Owner in 2012 and subsequently fully registered in NSW 2019 by the current second mature owner. You are looking at the most beautiful Mustang ever released by Ford, it’s the 1966 Mustang fastback. Its shape and curvature are instantly recognizable among car enthusiasts, and the fastback is one of the reasons the Mustang is so iconic today. This 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback was put together in 2011 by “Classic Speed” in the Philippines recreated as the iconic Shelby GT350, in right hand drive to meet Australian compliance. This iconic vehicle was then imported into Australia in 2012, first registered in QLD by the first mature owner, then sold in 2019 to the present mature owner. The vehicle is fully road compliant and registered in NSW and is arguably in near perfect condition. This vehicle is build number 200CS and is truly beautiful. The panel fit, paintwork and attention to detail has to be seen to be appreciated. The vehicle can be seen on the ClassicSpeed website per the following link:- http://classicspeedinc.com/listings/1966-gt350h-tribute-200cs/ A DVD from Classic Speed is available showing the Classic Speed build process together with a Unique Cars magazine. The Classic Speed build sheet, dated 5/12/2011 confirms the vehicle underwent a full rotisserie restoration…media blasted to bare metal before replacement of any damaged or fatigued sheet metal…the chassis seam welded and the vehicle built as RHD to meet Australian compliance. The engine was rebuilt on the original period correct Ford 289 Windsor V8 block (0.20 oversize) to run on unleaded petrol. The transmission is a Ford C4 automatic. Brakes are power assist with rear shoes and front Wilwood Discs. Australian RRS power steering is fitted along with a “Mustang” radio (with USB), air-conditioning and central locking. In November 2014 the vehicle was delivered to a noted QLD restoration specialist to have additional work done to the vehicle to better meet the then owner’s high expectations for a reliable cruiser. The works included a wiring harness upgrade, the fitting of:- a car alarm, ICE electronic ignition, a roller CompCam, Edelbrock aluminium heads and Air Gap inlet manifold as well as a new balanced crankshaft. At the time of a test drive after completion of the works in 2015 the work costs were some $34,000. After around 1900 miles the vehicle was sold and full road registered in NSW in 2019. The vehicle now has approximately 7900 original miles on the speedo. The vehicle has been fitted with a bigger aluminium radiator, new thermostat housing, dual temperature gauges and new quieter exhaust. The Shelby air cleaner has been removed (kept) and replaced. The car comes with a spare soft padded steering wheel. Liquid Intelligence coolant has been installed. Only 98 octane fuel (no E10 thank you) is used. Car cover, reproduction Ford Mustang service book/Hertz Ford Mustang Vehicle Lease agreement and a repro Ford Mustang Sales Invoice (for $3865 in USD) accompany the vehicle along with gold and black “Hertz” number plates (for show only) and a Ctec battery charger. Whilst Mustang GT 350’s were known as Hertz Rent a Racers back in the days, this vehicle is no rent a racer, being a lovely road cruiser, owned and driven by two very mature owners. And finally, at the push of one of four buttons the car emits whinnies, trotting sounds and plays “Mustang Sally”. Being a joy and a beautiful RHD car to drive, a real glamour to look at, and owned and driven only by two mature owners, this is a fabulous cruiser and considered to be presently well worth $115,000, if only because of current auction etc sale prices in excess of that figure for a comparable vehicle and obviously much less than a quarter the price of a real GT 350!
