Both are very good value for money. They allow for natural features, including gum veins, insect markings, surface checks, knots, cracks holes and other natural imperfections. The Utility Grade has more imperfections and more shorts than the Feature Grade. If you’re ordering Utility Grade (3rd Grade) for decking, consider ordering extra as you may wish to dock some of the imperfection out if it’s not to your liking. In any case, it’s very cheap and it still comes from the same drying and machining process as the good stuff. The Utility Grade is also good for Feature walls, Pool Pump enclosures, Eaves Lining, Kids cubby house, Sandpit, Tree house, Bookshelves, Picture frames, TV Stand, Planter boxes and so on. Utility grade will often be supplied with shorter length material than the Standard and Better grade and will contain mixed species and colours. For an accurate price / availability of stock, email sales@gthardwood.com.au Include: # Board size (you can ask for more than one and they will be included as options) # Square meters – we’ll add on the 10% wastage that is normal procedure for decking. # Delivery suburb. Thanks for your time and interest. Please call 07 5496 1008 anytime for any questions regarding our timber products. Price is per LM plus GST. Supplied in random lengths only. There are no pack size limitations. For orders less than $450.00 exclusive of GST, price will increase slightly. You are welcome to come and view the product. The 140-wide board in both the Feature and the Utility 3rd grade is cheap buying. You can use the Utility 3rd grade for a deck but you may want to dock some of the ordinary bits out of it. The Utility Grade is nearly 1/3 the price of our Standard and Better Grade Decking so there’s a fair bit room to build a cheap deck with if the budget is tight. We have a Feature Grade Shiplap and a Wall Panel in Feature Grade also. Same timber, same machining process but just two special profiles. The shiplap is good for exterior cladding while the panel is suited for internal use. Floor Joist deteriorate mainly because they’ve had a heap of nails smashed into them which effectively splits the top of the FJ. Moisture gets in and then they fall apart. We’re now doing floor joist and bearers wider than normal so that they will be more durable in full weather. We’re now milling super heavy spec FJ’s at 60mm and 92mm thick to counteract this problem.
