WHAT YOU’LL DO Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, functions, and buffets, adhering to established menu standards. Learn and apply various cooking techniques under the guidance of experienced chefs. Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic work environment, ensuring full compliance with food safety and WHS regulations. Prepare mise en place as required, ensuring strict adherence to stock rotation procedures to minimise waste. Participate in daily kitchen operations, including food storage, stock control, and maintaining equipment in good working order. Support the kitchen team during busy periods, helping to ensure timely delivery of high-quality food. Report any maintenance, safety, or equipment issues to supervisors promptly. Engage in regular training and development activities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge. Contribute to cost control efforts, including energy conservation, proper material storage, and efficient equipment use. Ensure a high standard of food handling and presentation, meeting all relevant legislative and organisational regulations. About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep/Platter Chef to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling platters, and maintaining high standards of food presentation and hygiene. You will work closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service. On average, this position will work 15-25 hours per week. A standard working day may be up to 12 hours between 7:00am – 12:00am, across any of the seven days in the calendar week, including weekends and public holidays. Shifts commence and finish at Stokes Hill Wharf in Darwin City. Requirements About You Previous experience in food preparation or cold kitchen work. Food Handling Safety Certificate (essential, or willing to obtain). Commercial Cookery Certificate (preferred). Provide First Aid & CPR (preferred). Knowledge of industry best practices. Consistently produce high-quality food. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and presentation. Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
