Warning for Macaw Buyers – Stolen Pair of Hyacinth Macaws – Stolen Lutino and Split Blue Gold Macaws. Stolen by those who sold them to me. Who knew I had them. Who knew my address. Who knew where my aviaries were on property. Who knew where the aviary entrance was. Who knew where my security cameras were. Who knew the one weekend I was away. The same person who sold me the birds, delivered them, built the aviaries and designed the security system. Dont deal with him. He will steal them back. I am a newcomer to the bird industry and recently (January 2025) fell victim to fraud/theft after purchasing a pair of Hyacinth Macaws and Lutino Macaws from a well known SE QLD Seller, only to have them stolen back. Fortunately, I learned about AvianPro’s DNA Profiling service from the QLD CIB (criminal investigation branch) and collected feathers from the aviary floor. The samples were sent to AvianPro for DNA analysis, and the birds DNA profiles have now been registered as stolen in the National DNA Database. Thanks to this DNA profiling, it is only a matter of time before these Macaws and any future offspring produced from these stolen macaws – are identified and hopefully recovered. Remember to protect yourself when purchasing valuable birds, perform a “Buyers Protection” search with AvianPro. If you have recently purchased Hyacinth Macaws or Lutino Macaws from any location within Australia, it is advisable to have the birds DNA Profiled through AvianPro, to confirm whether or not you have fallen victim to purchasing stolen birds. It is worth noting that even well known Macaw breeders can also fall victim to purchasing stolen birds without knowing, then selling these birds on, or selling progeny produced from stolen birds. Remember, stolen birds that have been DNA profiled will remain "registered as stolen" indefinitely, and any future offspring produced and sold in the future from any one of the stolen birds, will automatically be registered as stolen progeny. Stolen progeny refers to offspring bred from stolen birds, which are later identified through DNA Parentage Profiling. Once profiled, these birds are automatically flagged as 'stolen' until they are returned to the rightful owner of the original parent birds. Unlike microchips and leg rings, which can be removed or tampered with, a bird's genetic DNA profile is permanent and cannot be deleted, altered, or modified." AvianPro DNA services have assured me that they are dedicated to stamping out criminal activities involving birds within Australia. Not only bird theft, but cons relating to the sale of Non-Visual Genetic Mutations. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of these Macaws or have been offer to buy these Macaws, please forward this information to me via so that it can be passed directly to the Beaudesert CIB.
