This role will drive the establishment of project management foundations, contribute to our transformation into a service and solutions business, and lead high-impact automation projects while coaching and mentoring internal team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a project team across multiple industrial, FMCG, and medical environments and be adept at managing projects, engaging with clients, leading engineering teams, and resource planning for various tasks such as Proof of Concept (PoC) development, consultation, safety Machine Assessments, field service visits, and remote support.   Key Responsibilities: Lead and Coordinate Projects and Technical Service Delivery: Plan, execute, and oversee industrial automation projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely, budgeted, and scoped delivery. Lead engineering teams in executing Proof of Concept (PoC) trials, providing consultation services to clients by being a Subject Matter Expert on industrial best design and processes. Lead Safety Machine Assessments, ensuring compliance with AS and CE industry safety standards. Both lead and coordinate field service visits and remote technical support, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Coordinate cross-functional teams, optimizing resource allocation across engineering workstreams. Utilize the PoC’s capabilities to drive innovative solutions.  Demonstrate best-practices in Project Delivery:  Lead by example in applying best practices, tools, and frameworks for effective project execution. Develop clear scopes of work for internal and external stakeholders to execute against  Align project management processes with OMRON’s strategic goals for scalability and efficiency. Build team capabilities through coaching and mentorship. Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Implement industry best practices to enhance project performance and operational efficiency. Monitor and analyse project KPIs to drive improvements and share key learnings Any other duties assigned by the direct manager. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering(Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation, or extensive experience in a related field) Sound knowledge and experience in project management (formal qualifications highly regarded), with minimum 5+ years of experience working in complex projects in automation, robotics or a similar industry. Strong experience in leading project teams, managing client relationships, and resource planning. Experience with safety machine assessments, field service operations, and industrial system integration. Extensive Experience in a wide range of PLC and Automation platforms, both OMRON and competitor; plus Robotic and Vision experience will be an advantage  Certified Machine Safety Expert qualifications desirable  Demonstrated ability to deliver complex automation projects on time, within scope, and on budget, while maintaining high-quality outcomes. This is a rare moment to join: we’re post-technical validation, pre-ubiquity, and building out the team that will take Abi from early access to global scale Your Role in the Action As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Andromeda Robotics, you’ll lead the mechanical design and development of Abi—from concept exploration through to production-ready execution. You’ll set the direction for structural, thermal, and actuation systems, ensuring every component meets high standards for performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You’ll work hands-on across CAD, prototyping, and testing, collaborating closely with electrical, software, and design teams to build tightly integrated systems. You’ll lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and refine our development processes as we scale. This role demands both strategic thinking and meticulous execution—driving hardware that performs under real-world conditions, at scale. How You’ll Make an Impact Own mechanical design from concept to production, delivering robust, reliable systems that power Abi’s performance. Collaborate across electrical, software, and industrial design to integrate motors, sensors, and wiring within tight constraints—without compromising form or function. Design joints, mechanisms, and transmissions optimized for mass, stiffness, and cost to ensure smooth, intuitive movement. Iterate rapidly through testing, simulation, and reviews to refine real-world performance at every stage. Develop documentation, test protocols, and assembly guides to enable seamless scale-up into manufacturing. Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. Requirements What We Are Looking For Bachelor’s/Masters/PhD degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience (beyond internships or co-ops), with a focus on mechanism design and manufacturability Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, OnShape, or equivalent) for complex geometry Experience using FEA, simulations (e.g., MATLAB), and maintaining clear design documentation Hands-on integration of actuators, sensors, motors, wire harnesses, and communication buses Demonstrated knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, and advanced manufacturing (e.g., additive, composites) for weight-optimised designs Familiarity with PCB design and how it integrates into mechanical enclosures Proven ability to select materials and finishes for performance, sustainability, and cost-efficiency Experience coordinating with suppliers on specs, timelines, and DFM for mid- to high-volume production Ability to conduct in-depth failure analyses and contribute to FMEA processes Bonus Qualifications Experience with design for manufacturing and design for assembly principles.
